𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭
There has been an explosion of climbing films documenting the stunning accomplishments of individuals in the mountaineering world. This niche subject has inspired a wider audience because of the sheer bravery and razor sharp determination of some of these heroes, both as climbers and human beings.

The spirit of alpinism lives strong in those climbers at the forefront of what some consider an art. You don't have to be a climber to embrace the alpinist spirit though.

What we can learn and embrace:

𝐁𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞, 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬: it's natural to be scared, but you push through that fear. Alpinists don't want to fall, but they get used to the height, and they are able to keep pushing the fear boundary.
𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬: you know what the risks are, but you're prepared to take them.
𝐃𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭: not for glory or love of others.
𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲: in alpinism, sometimes nature wins. That's a great leveller - letting go of facades. You have to keep it real. All that matters is your skill and sharpness of mind. You can apply this to life generally.
𝐁𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧: you will only conquer your passions by being fully present and committed.
𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮: you're in a competition with yourself, besting yourself each time, it doesn't matter what others think.
𝐃𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞: it's when you feel most alive.
𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝: some won't get your choices, journey, or needs. But the ones who really count will let you be free to explore your world how you need to, and they will feel your joys and disappointments with you. And they will cheer you on.
𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐣𝐨𝐲: understand that life is a fragile thing, and so we should make it the most joyous celebration.
𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲: even if things don't always work out, you have seized what you wanted to in life, and lived on your own terms, in the fullest way.

That's the power of the alpinist spirit. Always reach your highest heights and push to conquer your dreams.
